什么是如法(依法、合法),什么是非法呢?一般人以为从辛劳职业得来的财物,便是合法的,其实未必尽然。从职业得来的财富,是种下苦因的,这又有两类:
“Is this what you have in mind,' I asked the Dalai Lama, 'when you say
in teachings that the buddhas and bodhisattvas of the world are the most
selfish beings of all, that by cultivating altruism they actually
achieve ultimate happiness for themselves?'
People use the word “happy” a lot, but what they think is happiness is not real happiness, it is suffering. Therefore, I mentioned that the best happy life, living with compassion, has great meaning. With compassion you can really have a happy life.
从众缘而非定命:财富从布施福业得来,虽是绝对的定律,但其中还有许多问题。一、有宿因或更待现缘:如说过去积有福业,现在享有福报,那末现在的我们,不是就可以坐享福乐吗?一切可以不劳而获的定命论,是不对的。因为我们知道,虽有布施业因,而福报现前,大抵还是要有现缘的。
Who bears within no enmity:
"He has abused and beaten me,
defeated me and plundered me",
hate is quite allayed for them.
家,能够给我们永远的安住吗?动物中,即使一只小鸟,当它长大以后,也要离巢高飞,不肯住在鸟窠里;一只小狗长大了,它也欢喜到外面奔跑,不愿意待在屋子里。中国字的「家」,宝盖头下面一个「豕」;天天赖在家里,不是像懒猪一样吗?
下面接著跟我们讲八圣道,「圣道者,指八圣道,亦名八正道」。先把这个名词术语念一念。「谓:一正见,二正思惟,三正语,四正业,五正命,六正精进,七正念,
八正定」,这八种。这个地方很好,念老把它注出来了。
Human potential is the same for all. Your feeling, “I am of no value”, is wrong. Absolutely wrong. You are deceiving yourself. We all have the power of thought – so what are you lacking?
得福果或造成恶因:关于福报,我想说几句话,大家不要惊慌!财富从布施的福业得来,那末现在辛苦的做生意,或从政,或劳动而得的财富,是由福业而来吗?是的。盗匪劫掠所得的,或贪污欺诈所得的财物,也都是福报吗?是的。这似乎太危险!有财物就是有福报,这不等于奖励作恶吗?不会的。依佛法说,这些非法得来的财富,从往因说,虽从福业而来; 但从现缘---得财的方法说,却是种下恶因了!用不合法的手段得财,甚至这分福报不能受用,反而受到罪恶的苦报了。
有人认为「情到深处无怨尤」,关系亲密的人理应相亲相爱,不至于互相怨恨。可是从现实生活看来,亲人间的接触愈频繁,产生的利害冲突与感情矛盾就愈多,如果不懂得化解之道,怨恨就会愈积愈深。有时候对外人产生怨恨的机会比较少,反而是对关系亲密的家族、亲人,怨恨比较多。例如,大多数的母亲都是以平等心对待自己的小孩,可是只要对这个稍微好一点,另外一个就会吃味,觉得没有得到应得的照顾,认为父母不公平,当孩子心理不平衡时,就会产生怨恨。

观世音从哪来的?自性变现的,他那些智慧神通、救苦救难是自性的性德,不是别的。
观音跟自己是一体,弥陀跟自己也是一体,十方世界所有一切众生跟自己都是一体,
你要懂得一-体,就譬如我们身上,我们身上的一个细胞,身上的一个粒子,一个小
光子,我讲我们中国人一句话的比喻,都是真的,千真万确,一点不假,中国人叫
什么?心肝宝贝,自己的心肝-,自己的五脏六腑,他怎么不宝贝它?怎么不爱它?
遍法界虚空界一切物质现象、精神现象、自然现象,全是自己的心肝宝贝,你要是
明白这个道理,了解事实真相,承认了,你跟它-融合成一体了,恭喜你,你成佛了。
成佛就这么回事情,确确实实整个宇宙跟自己合成为一体,这叫成佛,这叫法身大
士。融合成一体,没有达到究竟圆满是法身菩萨,达到究竟圆满-这叫成佛,成佛、
成菩萨是这么一桩事情。
During an informal gathering at his residence one evening, the Master said, ''When you listen to the Dhamma, you must open up your heart and compose yourself in its centre. Don't try and accumulate what you hear, or make painstaking efforts to retain it through your memory. Just let the Dhamma flow into your heart as it reveals itself, and keep yourself continuously open to the flow in the present moment. What is ready to be retained will remain. It will happen of its own accord, not through forced effort on your part.
由福业而非神赐:说到财富,简单的说,一切都从布施福德而来,从布施业因的感果得来。我们所有的财富,无论小至粒米,大至全世界,都是从我们的福业而来,而不是什么神所赐予的。神教的信仰者,把他们的一切财物享受,都看作神造而赐予享受的。他们对日常的饮食,都当作神赐而在感谢他的恩典。这原是「靠天吃饭」的幼稚想法!但是佛说:这是依我们自己所积的福德得来的。在过去世中,如造作了很多福业,那么现在就有富有的享受。反之,便只有小小的福报,甚至穷困到无以为生。所以过去世的福业,决定了我们现在的财富与享受。

如果你小心眼,只顾自己不顾别人,帮助别人自己留一手,供养人的东西,这东西差
一点的供养人,好的留著,这是小心眼,这人福报不大。另外有一种人,比你心量
大一点的,他福-报比你大,好东西供养人,不好东西自己留著用,这人福报大。所
以佛说的一句话你记住,利他是真正的利己,利己是真正的害自己,佛对于事实真
相了解透彻。我们不知道,我们总-认为自己吃亏上当!可是古人说「吃亏是福,上
当是智慧」,你能相信吗?有智慧的人愿意上当。没有智慧的人上了当,埋怨,起
怨恨心,怨恨心起来之后到哪里去?地狱去了。所以-他欢喜心总是生不起来,这要
智慧,人有智慧永远欢喜,吃亏欢喜,上当也欢喜,为什么?后福无穷,后面的福
报太大了。眼前贪一点小便宜,自己的福报很容易享尽,享尽之后没有-了,因为你
所得来的都不是正常方式,都是用不善的手段得来的,但是得来的还是福报。你没
有福,不善的手段也得不到,你做小偷、做强盗,你没有福报,还没有抢到,已经
被警察-抓去了,你没有福报。

So ego, then, is the absence of true knowledge of who we really are, together with its result a doomed clutching on, at all costs, to a cobbled together and makeshift image of ourselves, an inevitably chameleon charlatan self that keeps changing and has to, to keep alive the fiction of its existence.
人实在离不开因缘,有人结的缘是劣缘、恶缘,有人结的缘则是善缘、好缘。佛陀曾说「世间如火宅」,而火宅之中亦有清凉的境界――净土。一切唯心,境界能由我们自己去选择,同样一个境界,我们用心去体会,欢喜的是净土,苦恼的即是火宅。
我们信佛学佛,是要依法而行,这在昨天曾经说到。如人间的财富问题,佛法怎样指示我们,也是佛弟子迫切需要知道的。财富,包括一切动产不动产,国有的和私有的;日常生活所需,以及金银宝玉等都是。可是我先得申明:我现在所要讲的,不是什么经济学,也不是讨论出家人对于财富的态度,及处理的办法。现在要谈谈一般在家人,对财富应怎样取得,应怎样处理等问题。
Listening to your own heart is really very interesting. This untrained heart races around following its own habits. It jumps about excitedly, randomly, because it has never been trained. Train your heart! Buddhist meditation is about the heart. It is about developing the heart or mind, about developing your own heart. This is very, very important. Buddhism is the religion of the heart. Only this. One who practices to develop the heart is one who practices Buddhism.
